Jobs have become very challenging. Both employers and employees are more stressed and overworked than ever. By the time you get to work I’m sure you’re already frustrated from the morning traffic. Focusing on an 8-hour day now seems daunting.

With all the hustling, we lose our ability to be present and to observe our surroundings. With Mindfulness practices, we allow ourselves to become more aware of the present moment.

How am I feeling right now?

Am I experiencing any pain?

These questions, amongst many others can be answered by taking just a few minutes to sit and become aware. Mindfulness is the practice of purposely focusing on the present moment and accepting it without judgement. It has been found to be a key element in stress reduction and overall happiness.

Benefits of Mindfulness:

  • Improves well-being – Being mindful makes it easier to savour the pleasures in life and allows you to be fully engaged in day-to-day activities.
  • Improves physical health – Scientists have discovered that mindfulness can help relieve stress, lower blood pressure, reduce chronic pain and improve sleep.
  • Improves mental health – Mindfulness has been used to assist with depression, substance abuse and eating disorders, etc.

Mindfulness can be as easy as doing one task at a time and giving it your full attention; for example eating your lunch. Try eating and focusing on your meal, without the distractions of technology.

Experience your lunch instead of just eating it.
